Example 03 - Price Catalog with Sublines
At the line level LIN segment the trade parties have agreed to use code ZZ to designate United Nations Standard Product and Service Code (UNSPSC) in data element 235 Product/Service ID Qualifier. Data element 234 Product/Service ID (following code ZZ) carries the item’s 8-digit United Nations Standard Product and Service Code (UNSPSC) value.
Four semi-structured PID segments are used to convey the UNSPSC information. The trade parties have agreed to use code ZZ to designate United Nations Standard Product and Service Code (UNSPSC) in PID03. PID04 carries the 2-digit UNSPSC hierarchy level code (for Segment, Family, Class, Commodity) pertaining to PID03. PID05 carries the specific name of the UNSPSC hierarchy, and the Rn code in PID06 correlates to the UNSPSC hierarchy level (R1-Segment, R2-Family, R3-Class, R4-Commodity).
When used, the freeform PID*F segment provides general product descriptive information.
The SLN segments provide specific information about the component parts that comprise the product. The subline identifier value is comprised of the LIN01 value, a decimal point, and a sequential numeric value. Example: When LIN01 = 3, the first four sub-line items are identified as 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4.
