Interchange Control Number (Uniqueness)
Description
There are some areas we’d like to see clarifications for a Medicaid secondary or tertiary payer.
Scenario
Partner B receives a single X12 file containing multiple 810 transactions from Partner A. Partner B then separates the multiple transactions into multiple X12 files, reusing the original and identical ISA segment across all of the new files before forwarding these files to Partner C.
RFI Response
See section 5.1.2 of the Interchange Control Structure (X12.5). Between any trading partner pair, the interchange control number shall not be reused within a mutually agreed to time frame.
