Proper Use of 2120C Loop
Description

Is it proper to Return Multiple NM1 Segments in a single 2120C Loop?

RFI Response

The 2120C loop is a bounded Loop. Bounded loops require a Loop Start Segment (LS) to appear before the first occurrence and a Loop End Segment (LE) to appear after the last consecutive occurrence of the loop. All of the segments in the 2120C Loop are Situational, so the 2120C Loop can be repeated up to 23 times with only the NM1 - SUBSCRIBER BENEFIT RELATED ENTITY NAME segment present within the bounded loop. Therefore, to repeat the NM1 - SUBSCRIBER BENEFIT RELATED ENTITY NAME segment you must repeat the 2120C Loop within the bounded loop. Here’s an example:

LS*2120~
NM1*P3*1*SMITH*DOUG****SV*0202039~
NM1*1P*1*JONES*MARCUS****SV*0202034~
