Description

For a 270 transaction within 5010: Are we required to support multiple service types within a single request, if the multiple service types contain the DTP with different dates of service. Or can we require the submitter to send multiple request if the dates of service for multiple service types are different? Example: Multiple Service Types within a single request with DTP: EQ*30^68*AA~ DTP*291*RD8*20130401-20130430~ Example: Multiple Request with various Service Types, Various Dates: EQ*30~ DTP*291*RD8*20130401-20130430~ EQ*68~ DTP*291*RD8*20130301-20130330~ EQ*AA~ DTP*291*RD8*20130201-20130228~

RFI Response

005010X279 TR3 does not require responding to multiple Service Type Codes received within a 270 request. This is supported in the TR3 via the 270 2110C/D EQ TR3 note "If an Information Source supports more than Service Type Code "30", and can support requests for multiple Service Type Codes..." It is also supported in the 271 2100C/D EB TR3 note which states "If an Information Source supports responses with multiple Service Type Codes..." If the payer choses to respond to multiple Service Type Codes received within a single 270 it is at their discretion which of the two methods they choose to support. Payers may advise a submitter that they will support multiple Service Type Code inquiries if they are for the same dates. At the payer’s discretion, multiple service type inquiries, with different dates within the same 270 request, may also be supported, or they may require that separate 270 requests be submitted to receive responses for different dates.
