In the 5010 271 response, could you please clarify this rule for 2100C/NM103: “Required unless a rejection response is generated and this element was not valued in the request. If not required by this implementation guide, do not send.” If a 271 is returned where an AAA is not present and the Subscriber last name is also not present, is the 271 compliant or not? This rule would seem to imply that the only time the subscriber last name is not required is when an AAA is present. Also, same question for NM104 (includes Errata rule.)
A 271 without an AAA segment must have the NM103 populated to be compliant. The NM104 follows the same rule if a first name exists.
