Rejecting 270 in real-time
Description

According to the CORE requirements and 270 TR3, only a
single patient request may be sent within a payload/file.

What is the recommended way to reject incoming data
when:
1. payload/file has multiple interchanges. Should second
and so on interchanges be rejected with TA1? if yes, what
error code should be used in TA105?
2. one interchange has more than one functional group.
Should the whole interchange be rejected with TA1? or just
2nd and other groups in 999? what error codes should be
used in either case?
3. one functional group has more than one transaction.
Should the whole functional group be rejected with 999? or
just 2nd and other transactions? what error codes should
be used in either case?

RFI Response

ASX X12C is not able to comment on the CORE
requirements. The 270 TR3 references a single patient
request, there are no references to the ASC X12 control
segments.
With regards to question 1. No, the second interchange
should not be rejected. There is no error code to reject the
second interchange.
Question 2: No, the interchange should not be rejected.
The functional groups should not be rejected. There are no
codes for the 999 to reject the functional group with
regards to how many are in the interchange.
Question 3: No, the functional group should not be
rejected. There are no codes within the 999 to reject a
transaction set, with regards to the number of transaction
sets within a functional group.
