Description

In Loop 2000E, CRC02 - Yes/No Condition or Response Code, the allowed values are "Y" and "N." The TR3 states: A "Y" value indicates the condition codes in CRC03 through CRC07 apply; an "N" value indicates the condition codes in CRC03 through CRC07 do not apply. In what circumstances would a condition indicator code be sent when CRC02=N. I don't understand why codes would be sent if they do not apply.

RFI Response

The CRC01, CRC02 and CRC03 elements in the 5010 standard are mandatory. Therefore when the CRC segment is used in a TR3 (implementation guide), those elements are required. A condition indicator code (CRC03) would always be sent when the CRC segment is used and the value in CRC02 = N. The value N indicates that the code(s) that follow in CRC03 - CRC07 do NOT apply to the condition of the patient. The work group will explore a clarification and modification to the situational notes and code values for the CRC segments in the next version of the TR3.
