Can you explain the use of DP- Department Number?

The DP - Department Number as well as the 3L - Branch Identifier are used by the military to identify the department and/or branch for which the subscriber is associated. WG10 will create a clarifying note for both DP and 3L identifiers in the next version of the guide.
