Need guidance for crafting 275 Requests including various attachment types such as images, PDFs, and text, along with illustrative examples
Our product involves the generation of 275 request files integrating image attachments. Within BIN02, we transmit the image data in byte format alongside MIME specifications. However, this approach appears to be incorrect with certain EDI validators' standards.
Hence, we seek guidance to rectify this and align our practices with industry norms.
The CAT02 element defines the type of data allowed in the binary data element.
• The CAT02 value of HL is used when the data in the binary data element is HL7 structured data
• The value of IA is used for images or scanned images when not using HL7
• The value of MB is used for HL7 unstructured data like PDF, TIFF, Jpeg, etc.
• The value of TX is used when in the binary data element is HL7 unstructured test data in XML.
Submitters must work with their trading partners and see what they support.
Images, PDF, and Text are all supported when wrapped in the HL7 standard embedded in the binary data element. MIME packaging is not necessary when wrapping in HL7.
Questions regarding the HL7 standard should be directed to HL7.
