We collect demographic data about an individual’s gender or sex to provide the option of “X” on our forms in compliance with New York State law.
We are using the gender code values of “F”, “M”, or “U” in the Loop 2100A/DMG03 segment which allows for “F”, “M”, or “U” in compliance with the X12 guidelines.
In addition to that, we are utilizing the Loop 2750/N102 segment, which is the flexible reporting category to provide additional member details to send the sex code value of “X”.

The business scenario provided is an example of a valid use of the reporting category to provide additional information about the member.
