Need clarification if 0, 0.0000, or .000 is an acceptable value for CLP12 (DRG Weight) when CLP11 (DRG Code) is present.
Ex: 835 has DRG code of 951 in CLP11 and 0.0000 is in CLP12.
CLP*TEST*1*4100*0*5100*12*Claim1*13*1**951*0.0000~
Is there any scenario where zero(s) are a valid DRG Weight?
CLP11 is used to report the DRG used in adjudication and CLP12 is used to report the adjudicated DRG Weight. The DRG must also be in code source 229.
It is not within X12's purview to comment on the usage of an external code set. When a DRG is reported, it must adhere to the directions for use of the applicable code set from the maintainers of the code set and any additional supporting documentation referred to by the maintainer. The appropriate values should be used based on the code set maintainer's instructions for identifying the adjudicated DRG and DRG Weight.
