Date for Principal Procedure
Description
When Principal procedure is reported in HI segment, loop 2300, it's reported along with Principal Procedure Date.
What date should be used to verify validity of the Procedure code (HI01-02): - principal procedure date, sent in corresponding HI01-04,
or
- service date, calculated from Statement date (DTP*434) and/or Discharge date (Occurrence HI*BH) ?

This issue is explicitly addressed in the 005010X223A2 TR3. The Loop 2300 element HI01-04 is defined as the Principle Procedure Date and relates directly to the Principle Procedure Code from the corresponding Loop 2300 element HI01-02.
