This request has to do the proper formatting of US domestic telephone numbers when populating the 2120C/D in the PER04 when TE is used in the PER03.
The 5010X279 TR3 provides the following information:
The format for US domestic phone numbers is:
AAABBBCCCC
AAA = Area Code
BBBCCCC = Local Number
While the Segment instructions for the PER04 states this is: x1 AN 1/256.
Our question is are other formats for domestic telephone numbers acceptable in the PER04, such as:
AAA-BBB-CCCC or A-BBB-CCC-DDDD or ABBBCCCDDDD or AAA.BBB.CCCC or A.BBB.CCC.DDDD or A-BBB-CCC-DDDD ext ABCD.
The TR3 provides explicit requirements for the proper format of US telephone numbers. The specified format is 10 digits without any embedded spaces or punctuation. Any other format does not comply with the TR3. An example is contained in TR3 note #3 for the 2120C and 2120D PER segments.
