SV206 - Accomodation revenue c
Description

Looking for clarification on the 837 Institutional HIPAA guide for 00401096A1. The guides states for the SV206 - Unit Rate - that the data element is required when the associated revenue code is 100-219, which are all accomodation revenue codes. However, there are accomodation revenue codes for Behavioral Claims (see below). Does the guideline include these revenue codes as requiring the Unit Rate in the SV206 as well?

100X Behavioral Health Accommodations
Subcategory Standard Abbreviations
0 - General Classification BH R&B
1 – Residential Treatment –Psychiatric BH – R&B RES/PSYCH
2 – Residential Treatment –Chemical Dependency BH R&B RES/CHEM DEP 3 – Supervised Living BH R&B SUP LIVING 4 – Halfway House BH R&B HALFWAY HOUSE 5 – Group Home BH R&B GROUP HOME

The 100 - 219 code be intrepretted to include 100x, but we are looking for official direction on this. Any assistance you can provide would be helpful.

RFI Response

The X12 definition of SV206 is "The rate per unit of associated revenue for hospital accommodation". Even though the data element note referenced a specific range at the time of publication, Code Source 132 - National Uniform Billing Committee (NUBC) Codes should be used to determine the valid revenue codes defined for hospital accommodations.
